This week's Good Sort has a soft spot for strays, both here and back in her homeland of Ukraine.

At Galina Turisheva's place, it's hard to look in any direction without seeing a dog.

Her property's filled to the brim with rescues - some of them she's adopted, others are still waiting for their forever home.

There's good boys and girls like Tui, Toby and Eclipse, all of whom have had a rough start to life, but are well overdue for a proper loving family.

Saving dogs and finding them homes has been a theme throughout Galina's life, dating back to her younger years growing up in Ukraine.

"It sucks everything away from you. It’s hard on your relationship. You don’t have your life as such," she explains.

Her family are still there, but have been displaced since Russia began its invasion two years ago.

Naturally she's worried for those left behind, so far having raised $20,000 for abandoned animals in her homeland.

"My town was the first one on the southern border that was taken over," she said.

"The animals are trying to find shelter because the shelling is constant."

Even with dire conditions back in Ukraine, Galina nonetheless takes pride in the work she's done and being able to make a childhood wish a reality.

"The only dream I had in my life was to have a dog hotel," she said.

Now, she has it.

Check it out in this week's Good Sorts video above.
