Today marks five years since the March 15 terror attack in Christchurch scarred New Zealand forever – and now, some family members of victims are losing their accident compensation support.
Fifty-one people were killed and dozens more injured in the shootings at two Christchurch mosques in 2019.
ACC provided financial support after the event – but its payments typically only last for a set period of time and some families are losing that support, just as the anniversary ticks over.

Police have released images of clothing found on a woman whose body was pulled from Auckland’s Gulf Harbour in a rubbish bag.
Police say the as-yet unidentified woman was Asian, possibly Chinese, middle-aged, and of small stature.
The body was found on Tuesday afternoon by members of the public near Laurie Southwick Parade, close to Gulf Harbour Marina.

A man was shot multiple times and critically wounded on a New York City subway train as it arrived at a busy station in downtown Brooklyn today, panicking evening rush hour passengers.
The shooting came a week after Governor Kathy Hochul sent the National Guard into the subway system to help police search people for weapons after a series of high-profile crimes on city trains.
4 Suitcases stuffed with drugs discovered at Auckland Airport
Two people were allegedly caught attempting to smuggle around 63kg of drugs into New Zealand in their suitcases in two separate incidents this week.
Customs arrested both individuals at Auckland Airport.

During a 35-year police hunt, one of France's most slippery serial killers appeared on a game show.
Francois Vérove committed suicide in 2021 after police linked him to a killing via DNA, The Telegraph reported.
His wife said she didn't know about her husband's dark history, adding he'd never attempted to hide or cover his identity — even appearing on a game show. Now, footage of that show has been revealed.
