1 Golriz Ghahraman pleads guilty to four shoplifting charges

Golriz Ghahraman has admitted four charges of shoplifting.

The former Green Party MP appeared in the Auckland District Court, charged with four counts of shoplifting related to three incidents in Auckland and one in Wellington.

After resigning from politics in mid-January, Ghahraman said her mental health had been affected by the stresses of her job.

2 Real estate agent uses fake Asian accent in sales pitch video

A high-profile Auckland real estate agent has been given a formal warning after posting a TikTok video of herself making a sales pitch in a fake Asian accent.

The award-winning Ray White real estate agent Linh Yee — who is of Asian descent — said in the video that she'd do cleaning and cooking for potential buyers.

"You pay me good price, I also get dirty for you, see — I clean," she said.

3 Renters are 'very grateful' for incoming landlord tax breaks says Luxon

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said renters are "very grateful" the Government is reintroducing interest deductibility for landlords.

Interest deductibility lets landlords claim interest on mortgages as an expense in their tax return. It was removed under the previous Labour-led government.

Luxon said the Government has received advice its policy will have "downward pressure" on rents because costs are lower for landlords.

Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency has asked some motorists to surrender their personalised plates.

Some people with plates — such as one that simply says "OM" — have been left "confused and saddened" by the move.

5 Axe-wielding neighbour interrupts Facebook Marketplace purchase

An innocent Facebook Marketplace purchase has ended in an arrest after a serious incident in Dunedin.

The online shopper, expecting an easy exchange, was instead met by someone wielding an axe, police said.

"A neighbour across the road has come out of their house holding an axe and threatened to kill people in the street."
