An innocent Facebook Marketplace purchase has ended in an arrest after a serious incident in Dunedin yesterday.
The online shopper was met by a neighbour in Liberton wielding an axe, police said today.
"Police were alerted by a member of the public after they arrived at a Lowe St address to pick up an item they purchased on marketplace," a police spokesperson said.
"A neighbour across the road has come out of their house holding an axe and threatened to kill people in the street.
"Police responded and arrested a 29-year-old female."
The woman has been charged with threats to kill, assault with a weapon and possession of an offensive weapon.
"She has been bailed to appear in court at a later date," police said.
