Police are investigating the death of a man at a Hastings motel this afternoon.
Officers were called to the Magpie Motel on Karamu Rd North in Mayfair shortly after 3pm today.
"CIB are in attendance and the investigation is in early stages," a spokesperson said.
Vision from the scene showed officers going in and out of a unit on the upper balcony of a two-storey building.
St John told NZ Herald it sent one rapid response vehicle and one operations manager, but referred inquiries otherwise to police.
