The family of one of the New Zealand skiers who died in an avalanche in Japan's Hokkaido yesterday have paid tribute to their "beloved" daughter.
Isabella Bolton, 21, died in an avalanche on Mt Yotei, near the ski resort of Niseko on Japan's northern island of Hokkaido.

Born in Watford, England, Bolton grew up in Diamond Harbour and Heathcote Valley, attending Rangi Ruru Girls' High School.
"Isabella was full of vitality and passion for life," her family said in a statement.

Bolton, who had a love for skiing, worked on fields in Canada, Tekapō and Wānaka before travelling to Japan in November to work in Niseko as a ski guide.
"Our family would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of her fellow colleague and friend whose life was also tragically lost. And to extend our gratitude to those who tried to save Isabella, and the local authorities," her family said.
"While we come to terms with our loss and bringing Isabella home to New Zealand, we request privacy to mourn Isabella."

Rangi Ruru's acting principal Stephanie Barnett released a statement this afternoon, mourning the loss of the school's former student.
"We send our deepest sympathies to the whānau and friends of both of those tragically lost in Hokkaido yesterday. Isabella was a wonderfully charismatic person, and a loyal and supportive friend to her peers here at Rangi Ruru.
"She was a student who showed great perseverance and a ‘can do’ attitude that made her a positive role model, and inspiration to us all. She will be hugely missed."
Japanese media reports the group of six were skiing on Mt Yotei in Hokkaido when the avalanche hit.
Emergency services were called to help the group at around 11am yesterday, it’s believed the avalanche started at around 10am.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed to 1News that two Kiwis were killed.
Reports of weather in the area indicated it was warmer than usual, which would have led to the snow softening and becoming more prone to avalanches. Another avalanche was reported nearby in Iwaonupuri, where another skier suffered a broken leg.
