One dead after car, motorcycle crash in Northland

One person has died following a crash on State Highway 15 in Poroti, Northland this afternoon.

Police were called to the scene around 3.20pm after a car and motorcycle collided.

The accident happened at the intersection of Mangakahia Rd and Kokopu Rd. The person died at the scene. No other injuries have been reported.

The road is closed while the Serious Crash Unit carry out a scene examination.

Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
