A large grassfire in South Canterbury has been brought under control and is not expected to escalate.
A helicopter deployed earlier has been stood down.
The fire previously covered an area of two square kilometres and was burning in stubble, trees and hedge lines.
Earlier, it was confirmed six tankers and three appliances were in attendance.
Police said they were assisting with traffic control on Waitohi Temuka road between Walker Road and John Talbot Road.
Fire crews were sent from Temuka, Clandeboye, Cave, Geraldine, Pleasant Point and Timaru.
