BNZ says an "unplanned outage" it was experiencing this afternoon has now been resolved.
"We can confirm that all issues have now been resolved and our banking channels are back up and running. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused," a spokesperson told 1News.
The bank earlier posted an advisory notice to customers, saying: "Kia ora, we are experiencing system issues that are affecting our online banking channels, cards, ATMs and some internal channels.
"Our teams are working quickly to resolve these issues. We appreciate your patience and apologise for any inconvenience."
Angry customers flooded to the comment section, one saying: "Super hassle, i need my petrol, went to 3 petrol stations, everything declines."
Another said: ''I'm stuck at the airport trying to leave after dropping daughter off, this is costing me more and more every minute ffs."
In a statement to 1News, a BNZ spokesperson said it was a systems outage and there was no risk to customer accounts or information.
