A woman's NZ$1.3 million injury claim has been thrown out of court in Ireland after she was photographed taking part in a Christmas tree-throwing competition.
Limerick woman Kamila Grabska sued an insurance company following a 2017 car crash which she claimed had caused debilitating injuries to her neck and back, The Guardian reports.
The 36-year-old said the collision left her unable to work or play with her children, and she was bed-ridden for up to half a day at a time.
The claim was thrown out after a photograph showed Grabska tossing a 152.4cm spruce at a charity event in Ennis, Co Clare, in January 2018.
A photo of Grabska smiling broadly after winning the ladies' section of the championship appeared in a newspaper.
The mother-of-two argued she had been recovering from her injuries when she was pictured taking part in the competition.
However, Justice Carmel Stewart concluded that her claims "were entirely exaggerated".
"It is a very large, natural Christmas tree and it is being thrown by her in a very agile movement," the judge said as she dismissed the claim.
