Part of Auckland motorway cleared after truck crash

February 26, 2024
Long delays are expected on Auckland's North Shore.

State Highway 1 in Auckland's Takapuna is now clear after a truck crash blocked the motorway earlier today.

Despite the road being clear, Waka Kotahi said to allow extra time for delays in the area to ease.

Lanes on the road were previously blocked after a truck and trailer jack-knifed across the motorway's central median strip.

It also appeared to be entangled in wire-rope median barriers.

The truck was marked as being with StraitNZ — a road freight firm alligned with the Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferries' freight and passenger services.

Waka Kotahi said the crash has now been moved clear of all lanes.

Motorists were earlier urged to delay their journeys or consider using Esmonde Rd on-ramp to travel south.

Long delays were expected.
