Devon Conway has been withdrawn from the Black Caps squad for the final T20 against Australia after being struck on the thumb while wicketkeeping in the second game of the series at Eden Park last night.
Conway left the field after being hit on the thumb early in the game on Friday night and did not return, leaving New Zealand a batter short in their run chase.
Conway will return home to Wellington to see a hand specialist to ascertain the extent of the injury.
He will be replaced in the squad by Tim Seifert, who himself was ruled of pre-series with a torn abductor. However, he has passed a fitness test in Hamilton today and will join the Black Caps squad in Auckland ahead of tomorrow's third and final T20.
Otago pace bowler Jacob Duffy has also joined the squad as cover due to the tight turnaround between matches.
Coach Gary Stead said Rachin Ravindra's left knee injury, which ruled him out of the second game, would be monitored over the next 24 hours before a final decision is made on his availability.
An additional batting cover is set to be announced later today.
The final T20 gets underway at 1pm on Sunday at Eden Park.
