David Warner has responded to being given a huge send off by the Wellington crowd in the first T20 against the Black Caps by blowing them a kiss as he departed the field.
The man Kiwis love to hate scored 32 off 20 balls before skying Mitchell Santner into the night sky and being caught by Glenn Phillips.
As he departed, the Wellington crowd of over 20,000 peppered Warner with a chorus of boos, causing the Aussie star to turn and blow a kiss to them as he left the field.
It comes after Warner called out the New Zealand fans this week, stemming back to the sledging he received during Australia's tour in 2016.
"The crowd, yeah, they got personal, but if they have to get personal, that's their character," Warner said on Monday.
"I just go about my business. But that's upon each individual, if that's what they feel like they have to do, then so be it.
"If you want to pay your money to come and abuse people, you have to go back and lay in your own bed.
"We're here to play the game of cricket that we love, enjoy and put bums on seats to keep the game going."
Australia won Wednesday's opening T20 off the final ball, thanks to Tim David's heroic 31 off 10 balls that sealed his side an unlikely victory.
Coming in to bat with his side needing 44 off just 19 balls, David smoked Adam Milne for three consecutive boundaries, including two sixes, in the penultimate over, before hitting another six and four off Southee to win the game for his side.
