Police seize several motorbikes following Paeroa gang tangi

At least four motorbikes have been seized following the tangi of a Waikato-based gang member.

Police said they had an increased presence in the Waikato town of Paeroa today for the tangi — where a service was held at a local marae.

They said a contingent of gang members travelled from within Waikato, and some came from from Auckland and Bay of Plenty.

Inspector Will Loughrin said police carried out checkpoints and conducted high visibility patrols through the community during which motorbikes and vehicles were seized from gang members and infringements issued.

At least four motorbikes were seized by police.

"Police also had aerial support from the Police Eagle helicopter.

"Our expectations have been made very clear, we have zero tolerance for any anti-social, unlawful, or driving-related offending. Police will continue to take enforcement action where offending is identified."

Police added: "Everyone in the community has the right to be safe and feel safe".

The public was urged to report any unlawful behaviour on 111 if i was currently happening, or 105 after the fact.
