A woman in her 40s was flown to hospital after a canyoning accident in Waikato's Coromandel Forest Park yesterday afternoon.
Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew were alerted to the incident at about 2.55pm.
The woman had fallen "approximately eight metres into water while canyoning", a spokesperson said.
"She managed to extricate herself onto a rock and a beacon was activated.
"The patient needed to be extracted by winch from a height of 70 foot and she was flown to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition."
