One person has died following a glider crash at an airstrip in the Tasman District earlier today.
The aircraft crashed on the runway of Lake Station airstrip near Howard, with the pilot dying at the scene.
Police were called to the scene at around 2pm on Sunday.
"A scene examination is underway and the Civil Aviation Authority has been advised," a spokesperson said.
"Police extend their condolences to their family at this difficult time."
