Firefighters spent the night continuing to battle a huge fire in Christchurch's Port Hills, which entered its third day this morning.
FENZ said that 23 crews stayed at the scene overnight, working on structure protection and the strengthening of containment lines.

Commander Dave Stackhouse said a shift in the wind overnight means Christchurch residents "may notice more smoke, or smoke may be more noticeable in areas that have not been affected today".
He said at a briefing this morning the fire was 70% contained.

It comes after FENZ confirmed a home had been destroyed yesterday evening as smoke billowed across the sky.
Incident controller Stephen Butler: "The loss was not immediately apparent due to the nature of the dwelling's construction.
"Fire and Emergency will be working with civil defence to provide support to the resident."

The location of some cordons was shifted yesterday evening, allowing some residents to return to their homes in some areas.
"The residents know that they may need to leave again at short notice if conditions on the fireground change," Stackhouse said.
"Fire and Emergency is continuing to work with Police to provide managed access for other evacuated residents who are unable to move back home yet. The managed access enables people to check on their animals and carry out other essential tasks during the day.
Locals who need managed access can talk to FENZ staff at the community hub located at the bottom of Worsleys Road, from 8am.
