Arrest after forestry workers' car allegedly rammed in Whangārei

Police said two forestry workers had allegedly been followed by another vehicle and rammed on Mangakahia Rd in the early hours of Monday.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly ramming a vehicle carrying two forestry workers in Whangārei earlier this week.

Detective Senior Sergeant John Clayton said that the two forestry workers had allegedly been followed by another vehicle and rammed on Mangakahia Rd in the early hours of Monday.

"We have been investigating this incident, and yesterday we located the stolen vehicle that was involved in the incident in the Whangārei area.

"A man was also located at the location, and he has been arrested."

The man is expected to appear in the Whangārei District Court today on two charges of assault with a blunt instrument.

Clayton said that "this was a frightening incident for two people who were just going about their business, and we are pleased to have made progress in our investigation".

"Police are not looking for any other people or vehicles in connection with this incident."
