Man found dead after early morning Ōpōtiki house fire

A person has died in a house fire in the eastern Bay of Plenty early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the address in Ōpōtiki around 2.20am on Thursday.

On arrival, the single-storey Bridge St dwelling was fully engulfed, and a man was located dead at the scene.

Inquiries into the cause of the fire were underway.
