Fire and Emergency is responding to a building fire at a tyre centre on State Highway 10 near Kerikeri.
FENZ was asking people in the vicinity to keep windows and doors shut and ventilation systems in houses and cars turned off.
The fire was reported at 10.37am this morning. Multiple crews form the area were responding to the incident.
Video posted on social media shows the smoke billowing out of the building.

An update was expected once the fire had been extinguished, when it would be safe to reopen windows and doors.
