Two critically hurt after truck and car collide in Canterbury

Two people are in a critical condition after a truck and car collided on State Highway 1 (Omihi Rd) in Greta Valley, Canterbury this morning.

Police said two other people have minor injuries. A helicopter has been deployed.

The road is blocked and diversions will be in place for several hours.

Police said the diversions are at Waipara and Greta Valley on State Highway 1.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to avoid the area.
