Emergency services will continue to search this morning for a swimmer missing off west Auckland's Piha beach.
The 37-year-old was seen getting into difficulty in the water at about 5.20pm yesterday. Search efforts yesterday were unsuccessful.
The search will resume from "first light" this morning, police said.
The Auckland Police Maritime Unit is coordinating the search.
"Police, and the Police Eagle helicopter, alongside Surf Life Saving New Zealand and Coastguard New Zealand, will be searching for the swimmer both in the water and along the coastline this morning," a spokesperson said.
"Further updates will be provided when available."
