A group of teens jumping off a North Shore wharf earlier this week were surprised when a local police officer joined in the fun.
Senior Constable Steve Hunt of the Auckland Maritime Unit was training on his jet ski nearby when he spotted the group at Murray’s Bay wharf.
He joined them in popping manus off the wharf, much to the delight of those there.
"Tu meke Senior Constable Hunt!" said a post on North Shore, Rodney & West Auckland Police’s Facebook page.
One person commented on the post: "Memories like that stay with young people.
"They will talk about it and maybe just make a positive impression to think about the police as an option for their future."
"Way to go, man on jet ski winning the hearts of the locals," another said.
"Another great day on the beat for Constable Hunt, fantastic seeing the accolades and appreciation of the public we serve."
