House hunters after various luxuries often dream of a pool or a walk-in wardrobe but how about an entire runway?
Browsing TradeMe the Breakfast team spotted a listing with the special feature — along with six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a four car garage all located on 25 hectares of land.
If that wasn't enough, the property at Wellsford, north of Auckland, also has a pool, clubhouse and a one-bedroom apartment.
The property is described as a "private aviation haven" and "more than a runway and home". It's also complete with two hangars and a clubhouse, and could be a launching point for limitless travel.
The listing has captured the attention of potential buyers and fantasisers alike — and Breakfast reporter Hugh Sundae went to check out the Springhill Airfield and surrounding assets.
Owner Tim Harrison said he would love someone who is "into the aviation scene" to buy the property for other people to use the runway and clubhouse.
He said the was selling the property to downsize and move on.
Harrison said he spent his entire career working for British Airways, where he was able to travel to all corners of the world. It was this career that lead him to want to migrate to New Zealand.
After meeting and flying around a farmer who owned the property five years ago, Harrison was offered some of the land to build a house. Harrison subsequently acquired the nearby clubhouse and airfield.
He hopes the space continues to be available for flyers in the area.
Outside of pilots, realtor John Barnett said the property could also attract car fanatics.
However, Harrison hoped someone with a passion for aviation would take ownership of the home and facilities.
