1 Auckland mayor rules out rates rise to fund fuel tax shortfall

Wayne Brown said he will not put the city's rates up just because the Government has removed a tax that funds transport projects.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Minister of Transport Simeon Brown confirmed on Thursday that the Government would end the city's tax of 11.5 cents per litre of fuel on June 30.

The launch of Woolworths' new rewards system has been marred by "fraudulent behaviour", the supermarket chain has confirmed.

Users have been taking advantage of the new user incentive, which gives 1000 free points to members who download the app, by creating multiple accounts and gifting the points to themselves.

5 Picasso, Dalí masterpieces going on display at Auckland Art Gallery

The free exhibit, The Robertson Gift: Paths through Modernity, takes visitors on a journey through the modern art era of the 19th and early 20th centuries and will run for the next two years.

Among the artwork on show are 15 pieces worth more than $100 million gifted to the gallery from the late American philanthropists Julian and Josie Robertson.

ONE AIRBORNE STALKER

A US man has been arrested for a fifth time after stalking a woman for more than four years by flying a small plane over her house and occasionally throwing tomatoes.

He was released earlier in October on the condition that he stay away from the woman and airplanes.
