Wairau Valley locals on Auckland's North Shore might have noticed a bizarre change to their local Bunnings, with a new name and branding draped across the facade.
A giant tarpaulin now covers the store's usual logo, reading Hammerbarn.
For those without kids the change might be a bit puzzling, as Hammerbarn isn’t well known– in fact, it doesn’t actually exist.
The name comes from a fictional store featured in the popular kids TV show Bluey, with Bunnings Glenfield being transformed for an event taking place this month.
The series centres around a suburban family of blue heeler dogs – focusing on Bluey and her younger sister Bingo.
The show has become a global phenomenon, with 44 billion minutes watched in the US last year.
It’s also the most popular show on TVNZ+, with more than 53 million streams in 2023.
The Bunnings store in question has been rebranded as a nod to one of the show's most popular episodes, and it’s a chance for Kiwi kids to meet the main characters.
The pups will be at the Glenfield store this weekend and then at Botany next week, holding meet-and-greet events.
The stores will also be hosting a series of workshops to get kids involved in DIY.
You can book your spot for these on the Bunnings website.
