Two-year-old NSW boy dies in scrum machine tragedy

Tragedy has struck a family in New South Wales when a two-year-old boy died after a scrum machine fell on him.

The incident took place the the Old Bar Rugby Union Club, north of Newcastle, on Sunday.

9News reports the scrum machine fell on the little boy.

His father made desperate efforts to save his son and called for help, with witnesses carrying out CPR.

Despite their efforts, he died shortly afterwards. Police said they were treating it as an accident, rather than a criminal matter.
