1 James Shaw resigns as Green Party co-leader
Shaw announced that he would step down in March, but that he would stay in Parliament for the time being to support a member's bill drawn from the ballot last year.
Shaw, who the Green Party called the "architect" of the Zero Carbon Act, said it had been a privilege to serve as the Climate Change Minister for six years and the Greens' co-leader for nine.
The new co-leader is expected to be announced on March 10 after nominations and a vote from Green Party members.
2 Police won't progress stolen e-bike investigation despite CCTV, GPS data
Patrick Reynolds' $8000 e-bike was stolen from Britomart three weeks ago, and despite having clear photographs and a live GPS location, police did not progress the investigation due to not having enough "evidential sufficiency".
Speaking to Breakfast this morning, Reynolds said he was frustrated by the situation. "There is a theft crime epidemic in Central Auckland, there is CCTV but it still needs humans to do their job."
Police said the information provided by the GPS wasn't sufficient to conduct a search warrant.
3 Ex-PM Helen Clark urges continued NZ funding of UNRWA
Clark - a former UN Development Programme administrator – told Breakfast this morning: "I think stopping the funding is very unwise."
She described the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) as the "major humanitarian delivery arm into the Gaza Strip". It comes after Israel passed on intelligence alleging 12 UNRWA staff were involved in Hamas' October 7 attack last year.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said that the allegations are "incredibly serious", and that further contributions would not happen until Foreign Minister Winston Peters said it was good to do so.
4 Person dies following e-scooter crash in Auckland's Eden Terrace
Police said they were called to the scene on Ian McKinnon Dr around 11.30pm on Monday night.
"The person was located in a critical condition, and CPR was commenced. However, they were pronounced dead a short time later."
The Serious Crash Unit was in attendance and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
5 Couple lost in 'intense' weather rescued from Mt Ruapehu
The pair spent more than 12 hours on the mountain on Sunday night after poor visibility, severe flooding and slips forced them from the track.
Conditions meant that the only option off the mountain was to assist the couple on foot. They were provided with warm, dry clothing, food and drink, and arrived safely off the mountain four hours later.

ONE CHARITY SHOP CLOSURE
Dee Glentworth is shutting up shop at Free for All after nine years following repeated instances of abuse and threats directed at volunteers and customers.
The Porirua store, which began out of Glentworth's home, gives away donated goods, appliances and clothing in exchange for a $5 entry fee to cover costs.
ONE HORROR BOAT RAMP INJURY
A Rotorua boatie fears he could lose his foot to infection after stepping on a jagged piece of corroded metal at a public boat ramp earlier this month.
Kingsley Ridings has had four surgeries on the 4cm deep wound in the side of his right heel since January 15. The council said it has taken action to address risks and wished Ridings a "swift and complete recovery".
