Roads have been closed and nearby properties evacuated after a house fire in Auckland's Takapuna this evening.

Fire and Emergency NZ received multiple calls just before 6:30pm of a house fire on the corner of Barry's Point Rd and Anzac St.

A nearby resident told 1News the smoke was "just crazy" and that homes directly next to the fire have been evacuated.

FENZ said two crews were initially fighting the fire inside, and another from the outside.

"All crews are fighting from outside now after the roof collapsed. No injuries have been reported," a spokesperson said.

The eyewitness said roads around the house fire have been closed as crews work to dampen down the blaze.

The latest update from FENZ said the fire was extinguished at 7:22pm, with crews remaining onsite to deal with any hotspots.

"An investigator is on the way to see if the cause of the fire can be found."
