Two people have died after separate crashes in Waikato and Canterbury this morning.
The first crash occurred in the Waikato region after police were notified of a two-vehicle crash on Ohaupo Rd in central Hamilton at 9.50am.
Initial indications suggested one person had been seriously injured, with police later saying that one person had died.
Under an hour later, police were notified of a second crash, in Canterbury.
One person died following a two-vehicle crash on Twizel-Omarama Rd at 10.19am, a spokesperson said.

Two others were flown to Dunedin Hospital, one in a critical condition and the other in a moderate condition.
The road remains closed at both scenes while the serious crash unit completes scene examinations.
