Jeffrey Epstein's brother Mark doesn't believe the convicted sex offender and disgraced financier died by suicide.
Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in a New York jail cell in August 2019. He was under psychological observation at the time after an earlier suicide attempt – though he wasn't on suicide watch – and jail officials were found guilty of negligence.
A justice department report found no evidence the death was anything other than suicide.
But Mark Epstein insists his older brother didn't kill himself, even though the pair had only been in occasional contact for over a decade.
"I would like a full investigation of his death," Mark said, according to the Guardian.
"If you look at all the evidence, including the autopsy, the photographs of his body, the b******t DOJ report that is filled with inaccuracies, you would never come up with the conclusion that this was a suicide – but based on what?
"The question is, who had him killed?"
It's a widespread conspiracy theory, despite the official account.
Mark said he's been told that not all the cell doors on his brother's floor were locked that night. He believes another prisoner could have gone into Jeffrey Epstein's cell and killed him.
That's despite other prisoners saying they didn't see anyone else go in, according to the justice department report.
A camera pointing at Epstein's cell door was not recording on the night of his death.
The jail has come in for severe criticism for its practices at the time, with then-Attorney General Bill Barr slamming "serious irregularities at this facility that are deeply concerning".
But Mark insists it was more than poor practice.
"Other than having to deal with death threats, the FBI and NYPD and needing security early on, my life is normal," he said.
"They looked into me but they realised I was clean and there was no dirt on me.
"I'm only concerned about the circumstances of my brother's death."
