Aussie surf lifesaver finds $216k cocaine brick floating off Bondi

Video has emerged of a lifeguard retrieving what appears to be a brick of cocaine off Sydney’s Bondi Beach.

The footage showed the man, who is on his rescue jet ski, pulling out a brown package marked with the label “Zoe.”

The surf lifesaver said, “just found this little package of what looks like cocaine,” before expressing his intention to hand it over to the police.

"There's probably $100,000, $200,000 bucks in that little package there," he said.

"Zoe, you're going to miss out on your Christmas present."

The incident is part of a larger situation currently unfolding in Sydney which NSW Police said they were monitoring.

Reports of packages of tightly wrapped cocaine started surfacing north of Sydney just before Christmas. In total, 253kgs of cocaine had washed ashore in the past month.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports similar packages had been discovered across various northern beaches, including the Mid North Coast, Newcastle, Wollongong, the South Coast and the city’s east.

As a result, local police have issued a stern warning to the public not to keep any bricks that did wash up, and added it would be a classed a serious crime if they did.
