One person has died following a single-vehicle crash in Auckland's Ōtara this afternoon.

Police responded to the crash on Antrim Crescent at about 4.40pm.

"Sadly one person received critical injuries and has died at the scene," police said.

"We extend out condolences to their family and friends at this difficult time."

The serious crash unit remains at the scene.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway.
