Jetstar plane collides with ute on Sydney Airport tarmac

A Jetstar plane and a ute on Sydney Airport's tarmac collided this morning.

The crash happened at 5.30am (local time) while the unmanned A320 was being towed to an airport gate at the domestic terminal.

Passengers were getting ready to board JQ760, bound for Adelaide, before the collision.

9News reports the driver of the ute, an airport security contractor, was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital, but walked away unscathed.

Sydney Airport said in a statement there were no injuries and the aircraft was "undergoing precautionary engineering checks".

Jetstar said it was "working with Sydney Airport to fully investigate what happened".

Photos of the crash show the ute crushed by the aircraft's engine. The car's windscreen is shattered and the bonnet of the car is crumbled.

A number of Jetstar flights were cancelled following the plane crash, creating major disruption at the airport.

It's understood all affected passengers were however moved to alternative flights.
