Fire rips through central Auckland home

Crews responded this morning to a "well involved" house fire at a home in Auckland's Avondale.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at about 4.27am today.

A Fire and Emergency (FENZ) spokesperson said they received multiple calls.

Four fire trucks, one ladder truck and a specialist unit responded.

"The house is 30 by 30 metres... crews are working to extinguish the fire."

No people were thought to be inside the property, FENZ added.
