The 2023 Emmy Awards have finally taken place (in 2024). After a four-month strike-related delay, the best of the small screen was celebrated at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
And there were plenty of fine feathery on the red carpet, too – here are five of our favourite looks.
Padma Lakshmi
The celebrity chef was one of the earlier arrivals on the red carpet, but she made sure everyone noticed her with some dramatic posing in this bright Marchesa dress.
Hannah Waddingham

The Ted Lasso star brought a little old Hollywood glamour in a sparkling custom gown, also from Marchesa.
Featuring a plunging halterneck and extravagant tulle train, the dress required that most Hollywood of accessories – an assistant to help carry it and keep it from getting ruined on the red carpet.
Camila Morrone
The red carpet was awash with red dresses today, but Daisy Jones and the Six star Camila Morrone stood out with this sleek Versace silhouette.
Choosing not to embellish the look with any jewels, Morrone’s outfit made for a simple but stunning red carpet entry for her first Emmy Award nomination.
Jenna Ortega

It was also Jenna Ortega’s first appearance on the Emmy Awards red carpet and she chose a structured Dior Haute Couture gown for the occasion.
Dotted with embroidered flowers (another recurring theme on this year’s red carpet, albeit mostly on the men), the Wednesday actor told E! her dress was an “art piece” that “literally stands on its own”.
Jessica Chastain

On paper, Jessica Chastain’s Emmys gown sounds hideous. Expensive, but hideous.
Bright neon green? Fringing? No, thank you!
But Chastain makes this custom Gucci dress work, creating a beautiful bold statement on the red carpet.
Special bonus: Aubrey Plaza
Aubrey Plaza’s Loewe gown also sounds terrible on paper, what with its pale gold satin and very boxy top with a large needle threaded through it.
And honestly? It looks sort of terrible on the red carpet, too.
But red carpets always need someone to provide a talking point and dresses sporting giant needles will do exactly that.
