Person critically hurt in Auckland shipping container accident

A workplace accident involving a shipping container in South Auckland this morning has left one person critically injured.

Police were alerted to the incident on Takanini's Rangi Rd at about 9.40am this morning.

A spokesperson confirmed it happened at a commercial premises.

"One person has received critical injuries and has been transported to hospital. Worksafe have been advised."

A Fire and Emergency (FENZ) spokesperson said a shipping container was involved.

Three fire trucks responded but nobody was trapped, they added.

St John confirmed the patient was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition.

"We responded with three rapid response vehicles, two ambulances and an operations manager."
