It's been a bizarre 24 hours for news about MP Golriz Ghahraman, who reportedly faces an accusation of shoplifting at a boutique clothing store.

Very little remains known about the reported accusation or the circumstances of the incident. However, Ghahraman has stood aside from her portfolio responsibilities as the Green Party looks into the allegation.

Police have confirmed they received a report relating to the reported incident just before Christmas last month, whilst the store itself in Auckland's Ponsonby has declined to speak to media.
