'Can I pat your dog?': Children allegedly rob unsuspecting Aus woman

Three young people have been charged after allegedly robbing a dogwalker at knifepoint on Australia's Gold Coast.

The incident occurred late on Saturday night, 9News reports.

"It wasn't 'til I was nearly home that I realised they were following me," 53-year-old Kellie Hodge said.

"One of the guys, the young fella, said, 'Can I pat your dog miss?' and I said, 'Yeah, no problem'.

"So he's gone down and turned around with a scalpel and looked at me and said 'give me your effing keys'."

The other boy then came over with another scalpel and took her keys, Hodge said, before the trio ran off.

The group said they'd be back to steal her car, Hodge alleged. She ran to her neighbour's place and they called the police.

A 12-year-old boy, 13-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl were charged over the incident.

"It will be alleged the dog squad was able to track the youths and they were subsequently arrested nearby, with knives allegedly seized from both the boys," a police spokesperson said.

Hodge wasn't physically injured but she said she hasn't slept since the incident.

"I think I'm in shock because I didn't think 12- and 13-year-olds would do that."
