A popular blender made in the United States is being recalled after potentially posing a risk to customers by either catching fire or slashing users.
In New Zealand, the blender is priced from about $49 to $57.
BlendJet is recalling 4.8 million of the BendJet 2 products, according to statements by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) and BlendJet.
The company said "BlendJet 2s currently for sale are NOT impacted by the recall", CNN reports.
Earlier versions of the BlendJet 2 have a risk of overheating, or the blender blades breaking off, according to the recall notice.
"You should immediately stop using the recalled blender," the CPSC said.
"The recalled blenders can overheat or catch fire and the blender blades can break off, posing fire and laceration hazards to consumers."
"Serial numbers are printed on the bottom of the base along with 'blendjet2' and 'The Original Portable Blender'."
BlendJet added they will provide owners of the product with a free replacement unit and matching lid.
