The police dive squad has been called in to assist with the search for two people missing after a quad bike crashed into a swimming hole in the Far North yesterday afternoon.
Police said six people were on board the quad bike when it rolled into a swimming hole on the swollen Waikainga Stream in Peria.
Four of the six made it out of the water and were hospitalised – but two people are still unaccounted for.
"The search is resuming today for two people unaccounted for following a crash in Peria yesterday afternoon," a police spokesperson said this afternoon. "The Dive Squad have been requested to assist the search in the Waikainga Stream.
"Support is being offered to those involved."
