A body found in Auckland's Muriwai yesterday evening is believed to be a man reported missing on Christmas eve, police say.
The body was found yesterday evening by a member of the public in the West Auckland area.
While formal identification is yet to take place, police say the body "is believed to be the body of a man reported missing from the area on Sunday 24 December".
The man, Jesse Johnson, 32, was reported missing on Christmas Eve but hasn't been seen for three weeks.
Police said inquiries have been ongoing to find Johnson after he travelled from Hamilton to Auckland on December 6.
It's believed the last sightings of him were in the Muriwai area.
"His death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the Coroner," police said.
"Our thoughts are with the man’s friends and family at this difficult time."
