Driver critical, Auckland's Dominion Rd blocked after crash

A driver has been critically injured in a crash on Auckland's Dominion Road after their car slammed into a lamp post this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the serious crash about 4pm, near Mt Roskill.

"A vehicle has crashed into a lamp post and the driver has been taken to hospital in a critical condition," police said.

As a result of the crash, there is currently a full road closure on part of the road.

Auckland Transport is warning of delays for motorists and bus users.

"The serious crash unit is investigating, and Dominion Road is currently closed between Kings Road and Haig Ave," police said.

Bus lines 25L and 25B are currently being detoured to avoid the area.

"Motorists in the area should expect delays."
