A woman is the second person to be charged by police after the fatal stabbing of a man at a Christchurch park on Friday morning.

Police were called to the car park at Wycola Park in Hei Hei around 1.50am on December 22.

"A man in his late 20s was located deceased with stab wounds," Detective Inspector Nicola Reeves said.

Police yesterday named the man who was killed as 27-year-old Anaru Thomas Williams.

This afternoon, it was revealed a 31-year-old woman has been charged with wounding with intent to GHB. Police said she is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Boxing Day.

A young person has also been referred to Youth Aid over the incident.

A blue police tent has been erected in the car park of Wycola Park, Hei Hei.

A 36-year-old man was previously charged with assault over the stabbing and appeared in Christchurch District Court.

He has been granted name suppression and will be remanded in custody until January 19.

Police are not ruling out further charges.
