One person died after a single-vehicle crash in Northland last night.
Police were called to Te Ahu Ahu Road in Waimate North at 8.08pm, where the crash took place.
A spokesperson said the serious crash unit attended, and "enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing".
It comes after a number of other crashes across the country this weekend, which saw three others killed - moving the Christmas road toll to four.
Yesterday, one died after a crash in Bay of Plenty, while another was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Another died in a crash involving a car and a motorcycle, which left State Highway 25 closed between Hikuai and Whangamatā.
On Friday evening, a person died in a crash after taking off from a police checkpoint in Northland.
