A late six palmed over the boundary ropes from Hannah Rowe has got the Central Hinds home in a tight Super Smash clash with the Northern Brave.
The Hinds needed needed 13 runs from their final 12 balls in their chase of 120 at Seddon Park this afternoon and Rowe took matters into her own hands with a high risk, high reward play.
Rowe went aerial on the first ball of the over, launching a ball towards the boundary rope at deep mid-wicket - exactly where a Sam Barriball was positioned.
It was a difficult, tracking catch for Barriball near the rope and despite getting her hands to it as she went airborne, all she could do was help the ball on its way to being six runs.
That made it seven runs needed from 11 balls and the Hinds got home with three balls and six wickets to spare as a wide delivery eventually ended the match.
Rowe had the top score in the contest with an unbeaten 35 runs off 34 balls but was assisted by a strong start from openers Hollie Armitage [24] and Natalie Dodd [28].
After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Brave's top order wasn't able to get going and instead relied on some late contributions from their middle order.
Eimear Richardson was the Brave's best with 28 runs from 23 deliveries although Bariball and Carol Agafili also got into the 20s as they posted 119 in the first innings.
