Firefighters have battled a large house fire that broke out on Auckland's North Shore this afternoon.
A spokesperson for Fire and Emergency said it was called to the blaze in the suburb of Rothesay Bay at around 4.15pm.
An eyewitness to the fire told 1News that it appeared an appliance had caught fire.
"On arrival, we transmitted a second alarm," the FENZ spokesperson said.

"Four fire trucks responded as well as a special appliance. We currently have fire investigators on the scene attending.
"[There were] no reports of injuries or persons trapped."
Station officer Bruce Ingold said: "If you are going to turn on appliances, it's better to stay at home.
"[And have] working smoke alarms, we can't emphasise that enough."
