A converted church, a home with a private lava cave, and an old fire station are among Trade Me's most popular property listings this year.
Trade Me Property spokesperson Casey Wylde said this year's most viewed listings have "something for everyone" – from private hideaways and lifestyle blocks, to extravagant mansions on one of Auckland's most exclusive streets.
The most popular listing was St Gerard's Church in Pōneke with 90,621 views.
The Category 1 heritage site, perched above Oriental Bay with sweeping views across the harbour, sold for just under $5 million.

In second place was a "private peninsula" nestled on 10 hectares of land in the heart of Northland with 69,477 views and counting.
The waterfront property – "virtually all glass" – boasts breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
"You might even spot Great Barrier Island on a good day," Wylde said.
But prospective buyers be warned – the home has an estimated market value of an eye-watering $6.54 million.

In third place was a chateau fit for a star in Auckland's Titirangi with 67,594 views.
The lavish abode – spanning 320m2 and surrounded by bush in the Waitākere Ranges – sold for almost $3 million.
While the home is perfect for a private getaway, it also prides itself on having some of the best views in all of Tāmaki Makaurau.
"The seller is said to be a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer, so naturally this home features a hidden soundproof music room where no doubt multiple hits have been penned," she said.
Converted buildings also proved popular this year, with two old churches, a fire station and a power station all repurposed into homes and making the top 10 list in 2023.

In fourth place, with 67,463 views, was the converted St Mary's Church in Canterbury's Waimate.
The serene building has vast ceilings, stained glass windows and a church altar offering magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean and Hunter Hills.
And if that wasn't enough, outside there are thousands of plants with strawberries, blueberries, boysenberries and haskap berries, ripe for picking.

In fifth place was a stunning home in Porirua, north of Wellington, featuring a tree-lined driveway, an indoor pool, and views across the Porirua Harbour.
The lifestyle property – which received 66,417 views – is a verdant paradise sitting on nearly one hectare of landscaped grounds, native bush and resort-style living.

In sixth place was an opulent mansion on Auckland's Paritai Dr with 65,557 views.
The residence features the finest marble walls and floors, a grand spiral staircase and a fountain.
The home's sleek, modern elegance doesn't end with its exterior. Inside, it's kitted out with state-of-the-art smart home features including automated lighting, locks, climate control, irrigation and security.
The seller is taking offerings by negotiation, but has an estimated market value of $19.5 million.

Coming in seventh place is a pair of converted brick churches with 62,242 views.
The churches, in the Auckland suburb of Devonport, feature stained glass windows, a soaring cathedral ceiling and rich native timber flooring.
The homes are a package deal, but resource consents have been obtained for subdivision.

In eighth place is the old Mt Roskill Fire Station in Auckland's Mt Roskill with 60,119 views.
The heritage building, dating back to 1927, boasts an open-plan living area, mezzanine sleeping zones and a large garden.
The property sold for $3.35 million.
In ninth place is the former Devonport Power Station in Auckland's Devonport with 60,119 views.
The apartments, which were converted into three units in the 1980s, has a high vaulted ceiling, large windows, bare bricks and exposed beams – perfect for New York loft-style living.
The Category 2 historic building sold for $1.66 million.

Rounding off the top listings for 2023 with 48,952 views and counting is a gorgeous villa in Auckland's Mount Eden with a hidden drawcard.
"Tucked behind this grand home is a real-life lava cave, part of the vast volcanic fields that Auckland is built on," she said.
"The possibilities are endless, with room for a table and chairs or even a small sofa."
