Child in ICU, another stable following Te Kūiti driveway incident

Two young children remain in hospital this morning after being injured in an incident "involving a vehicle" in a Te Kūiti driveway yesterday afternoon.

Police said officers were called to the incident involving two children on Alisa St just before 5pm yesterday.

St John Ambulance said it responded to the incident with "multiple resources", including two helicopters.

Both children were taken to hospital, one in a critical condition and another in a serious condition.

"One child remains in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit, one is stable in a ward," a Te Whatu Ora Waikato spokesperson confirmed this morning.

A scene examination has taken place and the serious crash unit is investigating.
