Police in Porirua will today be monitoring a gang funeral in the area.

It follows the death of a Hawke's Bay gang member last Friday.

"Police have observed an increased gang presence in Porirua with members arriving from Hawke's Bay and other areas," said Kāpiti-Mana Area Commander Inspector Renée Perkins.

"The procession is expected to travel from Waitangirua to Whenua Tapu cemetery, early afternoon."

Police have extra staff on hand and said they won't tolerate anti-social, unlawful, or driving-related offending.
